ie. the windy city

cloud gate

the picture that was used was from 2016, but that's besides the point. the bean [cloud gate] is really just a hunk of metal shaped as a bean. what makes it so special, is the people that it brings. it's eye opening to see so many people of different backgrounds, coming to see a bean. it's a cultural melting pot, and it's also free. being located in a park, means that it's surrounded by many fun interesting art. art that changes often. visiting the bean will open your eyes to the cultural aspects to Chicago, and did I mention there's always food nearby.

haidilao hot pot

advocate fan of hot pot? then this is THE PLACE to go. countless number of ingredients for your ultimate hot pot. there's even a sauce bar. coming from the midwest, the hotpot here is just mid, but Haidilao is just a whole other world of possibilities. there bone broth is to die for. 10/10 recommend this amazing place. and if you're down for a quick noodle show, then this is the place to come. I included a video of my waiter's amazing noodle twirling skills. disclaimer: there's a lot of background noise, and me eating my food (hey this is the best my footage can get when my mom is filming).

it's a cultural experience here. everyone is speaking a different language, eating different foods, enjoying different things. whatever it is that you're looking for, then it's here. you can find everything here, from amazing food, to knock off designer (shhh I didnt say anything). It's cheap, and is such a historic area of Chicago. you can feel the age of the town and along with the generations of Chinese ancestors here. If you're looking for a historic experience, come here. taste the food, experience the culture.

super expensive. if you're coming in here with a big appetite, then your wallet is going to have to suffer a bit. the food isn't the best I've had for the price, but it's the experience that's different. the open space concept, and the beautiful view makes the price tag worth it. and be aware, the food is very small. it's like really small.

the leaning tower of the Windy City. when you're in the line, you can feel the sway of the tower. it feels really weird to have a whole tower moving side to side. the line to get in is really long, so keep that in mind.

such a cool experience. the store is 4 stories high, each one specified for a certain type of product. the food and dining area is stunning, and breath taking. it's an experience unlike anything.

so where to stay?

this hotel is affordable, modern, and ultimately worth every penny. it's around a block from the magnificent mile, and is practically close to everything. if you want food, then it's down the block. It's extremely convenient and the price is super cheap. if you pay more, you receive more benefits in your room. my family opted for the suites, and it was amazing. when you walk in, you're greeted with a bar and beautiful lights and scenery. customer service was a breeze, and it's covid friendly, as almost everything has an option for the contactless path.

just wow. The things that you can find in the strip of land are amazing. shopping centers and food left and right. and the bridge's view is spectacular. even running is pleasant because the environment and the views make it worth it. this is such a beautiful city filled with amazing wonders. If you're staying at the regency, then this is just a block away. have fun!
